A structured approach to neurodevelopmental support in schools
The INPP Schools Programme is an evidence-based whole-school movement programme developed by the Institute for Neuro-Physiological Psychology (INPP). It gives trained school staff the tools to screen for and address retained primitive reflexes: the neurological building blocks of early development that, when not properly integrated, can affect a child's ability to learn, concentrate, and regulate their behaviour.
The programme is run by schools themselves, following training from INPP UK. It is straightforward for staff to deliver as part of the school day, requires no specialist equipment, and has been used successfully in hundreds of schools across the UK and internationally.
As an INPP Licentiate and specialist in neurodevelopmental therapy, I work with schools across West Yorkshire as an advisor and referral partner, providing practitioner-level guidance and full clinical assessments for individual children where needed.
How I can support your school
If your school is considering the INPP Schools Programme, I can help you understand what it involves, whether it is likely to be a good fit for your setting, and what to expect from the training and implementation process. I can also support staff who are already running the programme and have questions that need a practitioner-level response.
Some children need more support than a whole-class movement programme can provide. Where school staff identify a child with significant concerns, they can refer directly to me for a full clinical INPP assessment through my practice. I will carry out a detailed assessment, develop an individually tailored programme, and work with the family to implement it.
INPP Schools Programme training is delivered by INPP UK. I can connect your school with the right contacts, help you understand the training pathway, and ensure you are pointed towards accredited, current resources. I am well placed to guide you through the process of getting started and to answer practitioner-level questions along the way.
Referring a child to Think Thrive
If your school is concerned about a specific child, a direct referral to my practice means they receive a full clinical INPP assessment and, where appropriate, a bespoke programme to work on at home alongside any support already in place at school.
The process is straightforward. I work closely with families throughout, and I am happy to liaise with school staff where parents give their consent. I can also travel to schools in West Yorkshire as part of the referral process where that would be helpful.
Get in touch by email or phone to let me know you are considering a referral. I am happy to have a brief conversation before any commitment is made.
All referrals require the involvement and consent of the child's parent or carer. Schools can signpost families directly, or I am happy to speak with parents myself once they have been introduced.
Assessment can take place at my practice in Holmfirth or, where appropriate, I can travel to the school. I carry out a detailed INPP assessment and, if appropriate, design a tailored programme for the child to follow at home.
Families are seen regularly throughout the programme. With consent, I can share relevant updates with the school to help staff understand the child's progress and continue to support them in the classroom.
Where to go for INPP Schools Programme training
The INPP Schools Programme is overseen and delivered by INPP UK. Training equips school staff to screen children, run the daily movement programme, and monitor progress over time.
I work closely with INPP UK in a CPD and advisory capacity, and I am happy to make a direct introduction for any school that would like to explore the training pathway. The best starting point is to contact INPP UK directly; details are below.
If you would like to speak with me first about whether the programme is a good fit for your school, or if you have questions you would like to put to an INPP Licentiate before committing to training, please do get in touch. There is no obligation. I simply want schools to have access to the right information.
